Gentle adjusting techniques have been proven very successful in treating muscle and joint pain. Our doctors use manual therapy and activator methods.

Activator Methods

Activator Methods is a highly effective procedure a trained Chiropractor can use to provide a gentle and highly specific adjustment. Dr. Eng has received thorough training in both the procedure of Activator Methods and the Activator adjusting tool. Many patients report preferring Activator Methods of adjusting over the standard manual manipulation, due to its highly gentle and effective use, and its non-invasive procedures. The Activator instrument delivers a controlled, light, and fast thrust without causing undue strain to patients.

When evaluated with the Activator Methods, Dr. Eng can effectively determine when to adjust, where to adjust, and most importantly, when not to adjust. When it is determined that you are in need of correction, the Activator tool is used to provide a quick, painless, consistent, and gentle adjustment. Since it works much quicker than being adjusted by hand, there is rarely any resistance due to the body tightening up, thus making the adjustment more gentle and effective. It’s also very helpful for adjusting hands and feet, knees and elbows, hips and shoulders, as well as other joints of the body.

We have 2 main goals in mind when treating work injuries; eliminate the patient’s pain and help the patient return to work as soon as possible. We also feel it is important to educate the patient in proper mechanics to help prevent the injury from reoccurring, if possible. We all know your body is your livelihood and it is important to protect it from injury/re-injury.

Digital X-rays

X-rays are sometimes taken to assist in diagnosing problems and facilitate healing.

Digital radiography is a form of x-ray imaging where digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. Also, less radiation can be used to produce an image of similar contrast to conventional radiography.

Digital Radiography (DX) or (DR) is essentially filmless x-ray image capture. In place of X-ray film, a digital image capture device is used to record the x-ray image and make it available as a digital file that can be presented for interpretation and saved as part of the patient’s medical record. The advantages of DR or DX over film include immediate image preview and availability, a wider dynamic range which makes it more forgiving for over and under exposure as well as the ability to apply special image processing techniques that enhance the overall display of the image.

At Lighthouse Chiropractic we feel it is very important to have the digital x-ray machine to help us determine the cause of your pain. If we see something that is questionable on your x-rays we will send your films out for a second opinion by a Radiologist.

Adjunctive Therapies

Therapies such as ultrasound, electric muscle stimulation, trigger point therapy, decompression, traction, hot packs, and cold packs may be added to facilitate recovery.

Decompression

We offer Spinal Decompression. It is a non-surgical treatment that is virtually painless and can offer relief for many conditions that otherwise would have resulted in surgery.
